goTenna Pro Mesh Range Extender
A while back, we have did some research and development into methods of strengthening the goTenna Aspen Grove mesh. One obvious answer was a higher power output “relay node” of sorts.
We went to the drawing board with an idea for a self contained high powered goTenna repeater node and did what we do best. We developed this capability in the form factor of a Pelican case style enclosure for rugged durability in austere environments.
We designed this system with a 20W power amplifier to enhance the strength of the goTenna signal. We made a deliberate decision to power the unit off of standard form-factor BB-2590 batteries for both size, weight, and power as well as interoperability concerns. The BB-2590 power source will both charge the attached goTenna Pro X radio as well as power the internal circuitry providing power amplification.
Initial testing went very well although we never thoroughly tested the performance metrics of this product. It’s just another portfolio item which we wanted to showcase for our blog subscribers as a representation of our capabilities at Mojave Repeater! I hope you enjoyed this look at the project.
